Portugal Airsoft Legislation: A Comprehensive Guide to Airsoft Laws in Portugal

Playing airsoft in Portugal requires a thorough understanding of the country's laws governing the sport. This guide provides an overview of Portugal's airsoft legislation, including replica power limits, color requirements, and membership regulations to ensure a safe and responsible gaming experience.

Power Limits for Airsoft Replicas and Airguns in Portugal

Airsoft replicas in Portugal must not exceed 1.3 joules of power, while airguns are limited to 13 joules. It is essential to comply with these power limits to avoid legal issues and ensure the safety of all players involved.

Color Requirements for Airsoft Replicas in Portugal

In addition to power limits, airsoft replicas in Portugal must be painted yellow or red according to the following guidelines:

  • Long replicas (more than 60 cm in overall length AND more than 30 cm in barrel length): 10 cm of the barrel and 100% of the stock must be painted.
  • Short replicas (less than 60m overall length OR less than 30cm barrel): 5 cm of the barrel and 100% of the grip.

Membership Requirements for Airsoft Players in Portugal

To buy and use a replica airsoft gun in Portugal, you must be a member of an airsoft association recognised by the IPDJ (Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude). This requirement helps ensure the safety and regulation of airsoft activities in the country.
